Femke De Vries, Volunteer Coordinator

Femke first joined Team Up as a maths and English tutor in 2019, wanting to make a change to the lives of young people from low-economic backgrounds who are not reaching their full academic potential.

Femke studied Journalism in the Netherlands, where she worked as a researcher for TV programmes after her graduation. She also organised campaigns for an international children's rights organisation based in Amsterdam, before moving to London.

After tutoring with Team Up since 2019, Femke became a Volunteer Coordinator in November 2022, being responsible for the recruitment and placement of enthusiastic volunteers at Team Up's school programmes. She is committed to building a diverse team of talented tutors from different backgrounds, showing a true representation of London's diverse community.

What motivates her is the huge impact that Team Up's tuition programmes have on the academic progress of pupils, but also see volunteers grow into their roles and gain professional skills that help them to enhance their CV and improve their employability.
