There are so many benefits to being a Team Up tutor
  • Boost your CV: Being a Team Up tutor will be a valuable addition to your CV. It’s your chance to gain real life experience to improve your leadership, teamwork, communication and organisational skills. You’ll leave with great evidence to show you can cut it in a professional environment.
  • Get teaching experience: Tutoring with Team Up will give you excellent experience of teaching, if that’s a career you’re interested in pursuing. Or it can form part of your volunteering hours for your current studies. As an alumni of Team Up tutoring, you can be fast tracked in the application process to join Teach First as trainee teacher.
Make connections
  • Get a mentor: All Team Up tutors 25 or under can benefit from a place on our 12-month mentoring programme. We can pair you with a mentor from the world of business or another field you’re interested in. Your mentor can help you in a way that suits you. That could include sharing their valuable wisdom, planning out your career, filling in job application forms or practising your interview technique. You’ll meet your mention every 12 weeks or so for an hour over a year.
  • References: Our programme managers can offer references to help you apply for jobs in the future.

 

Meet new people
  • Meet new friends: Volunteering as a tutor is a great way to meet new, like-minded friends. You’ll be working alongside other tutoring volunteers at your school, and supporting one another at your weekly debriefs.
  • Connect with pupils: You’ll also have the chance to make connections with our pupils, and inspire them to transform their futures.
