Join our new mentoring programme!

We are setting up a small network of mentors for our student tutors. Find out why you should get involved and what you need to do to sign up.

If you have any questions or would like to get in touch, you can contact Nick at Nick.Pilkington@TeamUp.org.uk.

Why get involved

1. You will be using your experience to give direction to our volunteer tutors at a critical point in their lives

I’m sure you can remember the anxiety, stress and confusion of working out what to do after university and how to get there. You can help our tutors to avoid this by providing the guidance to help them to get ahead!

2. You will allow us to provide our life-changing tuition to as many disadvantaged children as possible

Our mentoring programme is a key factor that persuades students to volunteer with Team Up, helping us to recruit more tutors who can reach more children who really need our help.

3. Mentoring is a great way to gain experience of managing and coaching

Experience of managing and coaching people is a key skill to help you to get ahead in your own career. Our mentoring programme will provide this experience while demonstrating that you’re willing to go the extra mile to help people to develop.

4. Our programme is low-time commitment and flexible and we will provide you with all of the support that you will need

Our mentoring programme is designed to fit around you. We recommend that you meet your mentee once a month, but where and when this takes place is up to you. You could even agree to meet over Skype! We will also make sure that you have a structure for your early sessions so that you aren’t stuck for anything to talk about. We will also always be available for any questions or concerns that you have.

How to get involved

Just fill in a short questionnaire…

In order to match you with a student with similar interests, we have put together a short questionnaire to find out a little bit more about you so that we can match you with somebody with similar interests. If you are interested in joining the programme, please fill this in. It shouldn’t take more than five minutes. Here is the link: bit.ly/TUMentoring

Or email Nick for more details…

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to get in touch. My email address is Nick.Pilkington@TeamUp.org.uk and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

What happens next?

Our tutors will fill in their own version of the same questionnaire which will allow us to match you up with someone with similar interests. We are then planning to launch the programme in January, with a launch event that will give you the opportunity to meet your mentee.
