Mentor Team Up's aspiring Tutors

We are looking for enthusiastic professionals to mentor Team Up's aspiring tutors

Posted by Nicole Kairinos on 10 August 2022

We are excited to announce that we have created the Team Up Mentoring Programme for our volunteer tutors to receive personalised career advice from working professionals.

Our volunteer tutors have devoted their time to helping us reduce the education attainment gap by tutoring disadvantaged pupils across London, and this is one of the ways that we would like to give back to them and are committed to developing their future prospects. By becoming a mentor to one of our volunteer tutors, you can help us achieve this!

As a mentor, you can use your career experience to benefit individuals who are looking for career guidance. You can set the tone of your mentorship meetings with your mentee based on their needs and interests, e.g., helping them set career goals, improving their UCAS or job application forms or simply sharing sector insights and the lessons that you have learned throughout your career.

Each mentor and mentee will have 4 one hour long mentoring sessions over the course of 12 months. These can be either in person, via Skype or over the phone, allowing for flexibility according to the schedules and preferences of both the mentor and mentee.

Our tutors are looking for mentors from a range of different industries including medicine, engineering, education, business, finance, law, technology, marketing & communications and many more so we will most likely have a great match for you!

What are we looking for?

  • At least 3+ years of experience in your professional field

  • Good active listening skills

  • Desire to make a positive difference in your mentee's life

  • Ability to adapt your mentoring sessions and be flexible to the needs and interests of your mentee

  • Willing to share insights and experiences with your mentee

What difference will you make?

  • Sharing your professional experience with ambitious individuals seeking guidance

  • Developing their confidence in themselves and their abilities

  • Building their employment prospects

  • Enhancing practical skills that they can use in their careers

  • Inspiring them to pursue a professional career in your industry or another industry of their choice
